REMC 10 pays for the United Streaming service for all REMC10 member districts. Every school has it's own unique passcode that can be obtained by contacting Doreen at 989.269.7212 or e-mail at dlackowski@remc10.org . After you obtain the passcode simply create your own account and search your subject area.
United Streaming provides searchable videos, video clips, and in most cases worksheets and quizzes to go along with the video. You can search by grade level, keyword, subject area, type of video as well as a number of other criteria. You can stream the video right from your computer into your classroom or download them for use later. As long as you are a REMC 10 member you can burn DVD's and use them in your classroom and keep them for use all year long!
We have created a new document that includes instructions for downloading, installing and using a program called "Free DVD Creator" that can be used on a Windows XP computer to burn videos that you download from Discovery Education to a DVD disc that can be played on a standard DVD player connected to a television. This is useful if you do not have a data projector available in your classroom.

Data projector information: data projectors have continued to drop in price while increase in capabilities. It is now possible to purchase a very bright, high quality data projector in the $500-$700 range. There are many makes and models available through the REMC bid, refer to www.remcbid.org and search for data projectors. Look for a projector of 2,000 lumens or higher (lumens is a measure of brightness), also look at the lamp life, it is now common to find lamps that will last 5,000 hours or longer. Lamp life is very important as replacement bulbs (lamps) typically cost $200 or more.
